Mostly everything was incredible.. the physical space of the hotel, the guides, the rooms, etc. I would say the food was just okay.. also they made a number of mistakes repeatedly with our packed lunches for hikes. The hikes were the best part obviously and guides were amazing! Read the full review

My overall experience of Torres del Paine was undoubtedly heightened still further by my five-day stay at the Tierra Patagonia... I have never - in all my years of travelling - stayed in a better hotel. Its location, on the shore of the beautiful Lago Sarmiento, is quite spectacular; its facilities (bedroom, spa, restaurant, bar, guides) are all superb; and the quality of service is peerless. Hotel Manager Nicholas Russ leads by example, demonstrating extraordinary qualities of personal service and care; while his entire staff manifest just the same qualities in every aspect of their work. A truly remarkable hospitality experience. Read the full review

Hardly have words to describe Tierra Patagonia and Torres del Paine. Guides and tours and hotel were magnificent as was the food and the service and the personableness of the staff. The weather was beautiful. The wildlife was beyond the beyond. Yes, we would recommend Tierra Patagonia.

The hotel was outstanding from the decor/accommodations, to the food, to the view, to the warmth and welcome from the staff, and expertise and friendliness of the guides. I can't say enough about the staff from the servers to the drivers, to the guides, to the management.

Review:
Tierra Patagonia offers a range of half or full-day activities at three levels of difficulty to suit all abilities. Guests meet with the guides at the start of their stay to choose the excursions that will give them the best experience of Torres del Paine. All guides are experienced and trained by the hotel, and most are from Patagonia. Many have a special interest in wildlife and landscape photography and can help guests take wonderful photos.
Horse rides give you access to less-explored areas in the company of real baqueanos (Patagonian cowboys). Tierra Patagonia use two estancias (ranches) for riding: Estancia Lazo and Estancia Cerro Guido. Most rides take place from Cerro Guido, which covers more than 100,000 hectares. The horses are born and raised there, and are specially trained for both beginner and expert rider. Saddles are Chilean style, which is similar to western style but without the horn. Riders also wear hard hats and chaps. The Estancia Lazo excursion is an easy half-day ride through ancient lenga forest. The Entre Lagos excursion takes more experienced riders off marked trails towards Lake Sarmiento. Both provide stunning views of the Paine massif.

The seven scenic voyage excursions on offer combine travel in a van with shorter relatively relaxed walks, and are ideal if you enjoy photography and bird watching, or if you are not interested in hiking. These excursions are also a good way to see all the hot spots of the park if you have limited time in Patagonia. A full day kayaking, sailing and or fishing cost extra, but all other excursions are included in the hotel price.
There are 12 different half- and full-day hikes to choose from, at three levels. Choose from the iconic hikes to the base of the towers or the Valle del Francés, or less populated routes outside the park boundaries. The guides set a pace to suit the individual guests on each hike, and will stop along the way to point out details in the views and to draw attention to the wildlife. A van takes you to your starting point and collects you at the end of the hike. Lunch is included on full-day hikes.

Whether you’re looking to explore the highlights of Torres del Paine or get off the beaten track, Tierra is perfectly located to discover the national park.
Tierra Patagonia sits on a bluff where the South American pampa meets the shores of Lake Sarmiento, on the eastern edge of the Torres del Paine National Park. The building is immersed in the landscape and emerges from the hillside as you approach. Its location showcases some of the best views of the massif.
Lago Sarmiento and Paine Massif
The food at Tierra Hotels is simple, hearty and delicious. Food is sourced locally where possible – seafood from the Straits of Magellan and Beagle Canal, meats and lamb from the nearby ranches, as well as calafate and myrtle berries from the surrounding pampas. Any special dietary needs can be met.
Chile is well known for its excellent wines, and Tierra Patagonia's extensive wine list features a wide variety. If you are new to Chilean wine, you might want to try a carmenere, which is a grape that became extinct in France, but which grows well in Chile. Similar to merlot, the Chilean carmeneres are easy on the palate. Staff can help you choose a suitable wine to complement your food. The bar also serves a full range of cocktails, not forgetting the Chilean national drink – the Pisco Sour – and artisan beers from local breweries.
Traditional Patagonian asado dinner
Tierra's unique feel comes from it's architecture. Designed by three of Chile’s leading architects to blend into its environment, it is constructed almost entirely from native lenga wood with a living roof. Each of its 40 eco-luxe rooms look out over the lake and the majestic towers of the Paine Massif.
Inside, wood-clad walls emanate warmth and cosiness, a perfect hideaway after a day spent discovering the amazing Patagonian outdoors. Furnishings and textiles are handmade by Chilean craftspeople, using natural materials from the region, high quality workmanship and inspiration from the surrounding estancias as well as the influence of the native Tehuelche people. An enormous open space with floor-to-ceiling windows unites a lounge, bar and dining area.
Uma Spa is located within the hotel and features an indoor swimming pool with jets, cascades and the same stunning views of Torres del Paine as the rest of the hotel. There is also an outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, locker rooms and relaxation areas. The hotel’s Spa professionals offer many types of massages and facials using local stones and elements.
Tierra Patagonia has ten superior rooms that interconnect making five family apartments. In the communal areas there is a children’s reading area. A child-friendly menu is available, and babysitting is also offered. Excursions can be tailored for families traveling with small children, and car seats are available. As if that weren’t enough, at the beginning and end of each season the hotel has a family and teen stay free promotion.
Of all of the luxury lodges in Torres del Paine, Tierra is my favourite. At the end of a day's exploring you still have those incredible views of Lago Sarmiento, the vast steppe, and the Paine Massif to enjoy over dinner, a glass of wine at the bar, or from your enormous bath tub.
