Hotel overview:

With only seven rooms and set in a secluded natural park bordering it's own creek, this beautiful wood and stone boutique mountain house provides the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. The service is bespoke and your personalised itinerary can include hiking, kayaking, horse riding, fishing, biking, photography safaris and even skiing in the winter.

Why We Like This Lodge

  • Located 30km south of San Martín de los Andes, this hotel is easy to reach, but set in a secluded location and is an ideal stop off on the Route of the Seven Lakes.
  • The hotel is set in 1.5 hectares of natural park, surrounded by stunning scenery, so you don't need to go far to feel truly immersed in nature.
  • Your stay here can be completely personalised to include hiking and biking in the mountains, swimming in crystal-clear rivers, kayaking and fishing trips on nearby lakes, horse riding through panoramic landscapes and even skiing in the winter months.
  • Intimate service and seven very comfortable rooms – some with large private terraces – make this the perfect place to relax and soak up the views.
  • You can enjoy both local and international cuisine in the restaurant whether it's breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. There's also a well-stocked bar area in which to relax after your excursions.

The hotel overlooks a crystal-clear river which, in the summer months, is warm enough for a swim. This is a truly invigorating experience, perhaps best enjoyed in the late afternoon, after returning from an excursion.

David says

Rio Hermoso isn't a hotel, it's an elegant and cozy home-from-home. I love that there is no television, and you are awakened by the trickle of the river and the birds' dawn chorus from outside your bedroom window.
