A beautiful location, and stunning base from which to explore Chilean Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn. Lakutaia's extensive excursions give you the opportunity to horse ride, kayak, sail the Beagle Channel, trek to the Dientes de Navarino, and even fly over Cape Horn.
Just on the outskirts of Puerto Williams, looking out onto the shore, Lakutaia Lodge has one of the best locations on the island. It capitalises on its beautiful setting with huge windows that face onto the Beagle Channel, so sitting in the lounge watching the world go by is a real joy. The wilderness begins just behind the lodge, thick forests stretch into the horizon, towards the jagged Dientes de Navarino mountain range.
Trekking: complete the famous Dientes de Navarino multi-day trek, a challenging 5-day hike that takes you over scree-filed slopes, past hidden lakes, and into the wilderness. You'll stay your first and last night at the Lodge, spending the others wild camping under the stars. All meals are catered for, and you'll have porters to carry your equipment.
Day trips: base yourself at the lodge and go out exploring the trails during the day, hiking to viewpoints, visiting the ethno-botanical park, kayaking in the Beagle Channel, horse-riding or bird-watching, all with your very own expert guides.
Scenic flights: by helicopter or plane, get a privileged bird's eye view of Cape Horn and the Dientes Navarino.
Helifishing: Spend five days accessing some of the most secluded rivers and lakes on this remote island, each with abundant fish. You'll travel between spots by helicopter, and fish for Sea Run Trout, Brown Trout, and Rainbow Trout.
Booking a room on its own is possible, but we highly recommend instead booking onto one of the trips that run from the lodge. This ensures all your meals, lodging and transfers are catered for, and you'll be going out each day on some of the best excursions the island has to offer. Included in these trips are:
For rooms on their own, the rates for 2019/20 are:
