Hotel overview:

A warm welcome awaits you at Estancia Mercedes. Both a family home and estancia; it is cosy, with home cooked food and no internet or phone signal. There are lots of cats, dogs and horses allowing you to enjoy a true Patagonian gaucho experience. The Estancia is accessed by boat, followed by a 1 hour drive on a bumpy road; getting here is an adventure in itself.

Why We Like This Estancia

  • Embrace the laid-back atmosphere and homely charm amidst the astonishing surroundings of mountains, fjords, hills and sea
  • Partake in the daily life of the family; acquainting yourself with the region's traditional ranch work whilst hearing stories of the family's strong bond with the land
  • In spite of the remote setting, the estancia is relatively easy to reach and offers the opportunity to enjoy horseback rides and treks to places such as Cerro Mirador and Puerto Natales
  • Share nourishing meals in front of the fire, with food grown by the family

Experience the true Gaucho lifestyle. This is a typical activity for estancias and one which Estancia Mercedes has been doing since 1916.

You will head out into the countryside with the dogs to look for the herds of animals. They are then rounded up and driven to the corrals where the calves are branded.
