Overall, how was your trip?
Patagonia was a great place to walk. Lots to see and do. Open landscapes, spectacular mountain ranges and glaciers. We met some interesting people. Some of which were on a similar journey to us, some were more 'local'. Everyone seemed friendly and interested in our lives too! We completed the 'W' trek quite comfortably. We enjoyed the cosy accommodation and comradery of other trekkers. Everyone had their own agenda and were happy to share their experiences.
In one sentence, what did you think of Patagonia? Did it live up to your expectations?
Patagonia - A must see place. Recommended for all age groups.
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
We were served well with Swoop, who had specialist knowledge of Patagonia. Every aspect of our questions were dealt with appropriately. We were happy to be able to adjust our itinerary to suite our request pre booking. This was a great plus. We had emergency contact numbers for the partner 'Dittmar Adventures' whilst in Chile which was great and we didn't need this. However, we did encounter a problem whilst in Argentina. We were unable to find our very last accommodation (poor directions in info pack, misleading name for accommodation). It was late at night and we would have appreciated being able to make contact with someone to assist with our dilemma. We ended up having to find alternate accommodation for the night. Dittmar have refunded us for this additional expense (and we are happy with this) but at the time, we found that not having a local contact was quite unsatisfactory and stressful.
How did you feel about booking directly with our partner(s)?
We weren't too happy about being introduced to a 'partner' to complete the holiday (as it was overseas). We also had reservations about transferring money for payment overseas instead of to a UK company. (A leap of faith transferring money overseas!). Our options were:- pay by bank transfer or pay-pal credit card (credit card incurs an additional cost). We paid our initial deposit by pay-pal credit then attempted to pay the outstanding balance by bank transfer. The transfer was initially refused (due to 'potential fraud action' on our account). We later found out that refusal for potential fraud is quite normal practice. This made us wonder if the whole transaction was legitimate. Which luckily it was. I personally would have liked a bit more info about Swoop's partner (Dittmar Adventures) for reassurance. Also, an explanation of process would have made the transaction a bit less stressful.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
7 out of 10
