Overall, how was your trip?
The trip was great! We liked that we started on the Paine Grande end and got the hardest hike out of the way first. We were lucky to have great weather to enjoy the beautiful landscape, except for some winds and drizzle on our last day. We were surprised at how nice the refugios were and happily pleased with the food.
In one sentence, what did you think of Patagonia? Did it live up to your expectations?
During our hike in Torres del Paine we had perfect weather, amazing scenery, and excellent food and accomodations!
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
Our service with Swoop was good. It was confusing for me who I was supposed to be talking to when I had questions about the trip. It seemed like I kept getting responses from different people and didn't know if I was talking to Swoop or Dittmar. I am normally not a person who uses organized tours, especially when it is not required and likely would not do it again if I were able to secure campsites on my own.
How did you feel about booking directly with our partner(s)?
My experience with Dittmar through email was sometimes confusing and in-person was not good at all. I would not use them again and definitely wouldn't recommend them to a friend. First, the emails I received from Dittmar mentioned several times that bedding was not included in our price so my dad brought a sleeping back with him and we had to purchase one in Puerto Natales. When we arrived at 5 p.m. the day before our hike to Dittmar, we were told we didn't need bedding because it's included with the refugios...so we lost the $90 we spend on the sleeping bag. Also, the initial information we were given that did not include detailed times or plans for each hike led us to believe the last day would be short and sweet, but we found out we would have to wait at the refugio until 2 p.m. to take a boat and wouldn't be back in town until 9 or 10 p.m. causing us to miss our flight in Punta Arenas. After some discussion and paying extra for another boat ticket, we figured out a solution. The woman I was initially introduced to at Dittmar, Erin, no longer held the same position, and although she prepared our documents, she was not able to give us the orientation. The woman who did, was not prepared and left us feeling more confused than prepared for our hike. She kept mentioning how this is not her normal job and had trouble completing one thought before starting the next so we had a very difficult time following what she was trying to say.
