Hotels

Torres del Paine has a number of hotels dispersed throughout the national park, varying widely in size, standard, location and what they offer, but each with their own special character.

Budget-wise, Torres del Paine's best hotels mostly fall into the mid-range category, making them a great option for well-priced all inclusive itineraries or as a base on a self-drive itinerary.

Some of the hotels have prime locations that are perfectly placed to access the park’s most popular trailheads, including the hike to the base of the Towers and Glacier Grey. When you’re not out hiking, they offer tremendous scenic views.

Estancias

Estancias are traditional ranches that form a key part of Patagonia’s heritage and identity. They are synonymous with the wilderness and typically found in remote locations: a stay in one is a perfect way to to switch off from the bustle of the modern world.

If you want to horse ride in Torres del Paine, an estancia is the perfect way to connect with the region’s gaucho culture. Riding from estancia to estancia on a multi-day trip is also one of the best ways to experience this vast national park.

Estancia styles range from rustic farmstay to stylishly comfortable, but their wild settings are what make a stay such a classic Patagonian experience.

Refugios

Refugios are simple mountain huts or hiking hostels that for many people make for a classic Torres del Paine hiking experience. They are well located on the main trails, with the largest number found along the route of the W Trek, allowing hikers to complete the trek by walking between them carrying just a small backpack.

Staying in a refugio is a highly social affair. They offer basic and clean dorm-style rooms where hikers can relax and unwind after a long day on the trail, with shared toilets and bathrooms/showers.

All meals are provided at refugios, but food tends to be very simple, designed mainly to fuel a long day of walking.

Camping

For many people, the lure of Torres del Paine’s trails is one best experience under canvas. There are plenty of campsites to enjoy, with the majority of them conveniently located next to refugios, allowing you to eat in the refugio dining hall and enjoy their showers before retiring to the privacy of your own tent.

You can bring your own tent to a refugio campsite or rent one with sleeping mats.

More remote campsites allow you to explore hidden valleys far away from the other hikers, but facilities on offer are accordingly basic. Wild camping is not permitted in Torres del Paine.

The national park is vast and getting around is tricky so think carefully about the sort of experience you are looking for; a multiple day trek, a luxurious day hiking base, a horse riding experience or a self-drive.
