Operator's Itinerary

This itinerary is an example of how you could spend your time on this all-inclusive estancia experience. Please see the full list of options on the excursions pageThe group size for excursions will vary according to the specific activity you chose and will be from 2-12 people max, with most tours being only 4-6 people on average.

Day 1: Transfer to Estancia Cerro Guido; Patagonian Ranch Tour

You'll take a shared transfer from Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales or Cerro Castillo/Cancha Carrera (Argentinian border) to Estancia Cerro Guido in Torres del Paine.

In the afternoon, your guided tour is an invitation to discover an authentic Patagonian ranch, where not only the original buildings with valuable testimonies of the region’s architectural heritage have been preserved, but also the traditional lifestyle that defines the very essence of Patagonia. This tour through the centre of the ranch founded more than 100 years ago, is a true journey through time.

You walk through different areas of the ranch, such as the orchard and the greenhouse, where you can try some of their products to finally visit the manor house and the shearing shed if the season allows it.

Meals: Lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Estancia Cerro Guido

Day 2: Torres del Paine National Park

This excursion will take you and your group through the trails that cover part of the 1,814 km2 of Torres del Paine National Park. From views of the Southern Ice Field to the pampas and its fauna, you will explore the diverse landscapes this biosphere reserve offers.

You leave the ranch towards Lago del Toro to approach from the south, where it is possible to have a great panoramic view of its mountains, forests, lakes, and glaciers. You enter the park through the Serrano River and continue to the Pingo River sector for a short hike to Grey Lake.

Then you continue to Lake Pehoé to have lunch and visit the Salto Grande, one of the most scenic places in the park. In the afternoon, you will visit the eastern sector of the park, passing by the viewpoint of Lake Nördenskjold and Lake Sarmiento, to finish at Paine Waterfall and return to Cerro Guido from Amarga Lagoon.

Please note - If you have already been to Torres del Paine National Park you can do a different day itinerary which includes a Conservation Safari and Macizo Paine Lookout Horseback riding—please let us know if this would be preferred.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Estancia Cerro Guido

Day 3: Sierra Baguales - Day Hike

Today, you'll have the opportunity to undertake a challenging full-day excursion. One of the most iconic landscapes of the estancia, the mystical Sierra Baguales is the natural boundary between Chile and Argentina, as well as the site of recent paleontological and archaeological discoveries. The solitary and wild nature of this little explored mountain range is a must for adventure enthusiasts.

For this excursion, you head towards Puesto Las Flores, from where you start a steep ascent, off trail, that will take you through hills to the base of the Sierra Baguales. A series of small lakes, striking peaks, and herds of guanacos are part of the breathtaking scenery that accompanies you as you approach Cerro Ciudadela.

The descent is done through wide valleys, where you can still see herds of baguales; wild horses that inhabited in large numbers this place and that give their name to this remote mountain range.

Lower-difficulty excursions are available.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Estancia Cerro Guido

Day 4: Las Chinas - Day Hike

Off the beaten track, enthusiast adventurers will love this hike. You leave the Cerro Guido hotel by car, a 40-minute drive to the Valle de Las Chinas, a place wild and barely explored in the northeast sector of the ranch.

Your walk takes you through open fields, following the Las Chinas River to the only forest in the valley, formed by lengas and ñirres, native trees of Patagonia. There, you begin your ascent to the viewpoint, located on the upper side of the hills. The climb is challenging, off the trail and over uneven terrain.

Still, your efforts are rewarded when you reach a stunning viewpoint, not only for its spectacular views of the Torres del Paine and surroundings but also for its mineral environment and succession of very peculiar rock formations that will transport you to other ages.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Estancia Cerro Guido

Day 5: Transfer for Onward Travel

Today you'll take a shared transfer from the Estanica to Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales or Cerro Castillo (Argentinian border).
