Puerto Tranquilo
A small tourist town, Chileans flock to Puerto Tranquilo for their summer holidays, but it is barely open outside of these peak months. The popularity of the town results from its Marble Caves, also known as the Marble Cathedral (capillas de marmol or catedral de marmol, in Spanish). Located on the shores of Lago General Carrera, into which the Rio Tranquilo feeds, the town is close enough to the Caves for you to visit by boat, or even by kayak.
