Day 1: Arrive in Coyhaique
Today you'll arrive in Coyhaique and have plenty of time to explore this sleepy town, the capital of the region of Aysén.

Day 2: Drive the Carretera Austral to Cochrane
Today you'll enjoy the drive south along the Carretera Austral to the town of Cochrane. Your guide/driver will stop for sightseeing along the way as you drive through Cerro Castillo National Park, Puerto Río Tranquilo, and visit the confluence of the Baker and Neff Rivers, past the site of the now-cancelled hydroelectric dam.
In the evening, you'll meet with your kayak guides for a trip briefing and have a chance to ask any questions you may have about the trip and make final plans.

Days 3 to 6: Kayak descent of the Baker River to Caleta Tortel
Your kayaking adventure on the Baker River begins today. For three days you'll be descending the beautiful river valley, camping along the way. On arrival in Caleta Tortel, you will find a fascinating car-free town. Built almost entirely from wood, it is a labyrinthine maze, connected by sturdy boardwalks that snake down the mountainside and branch out along the bay. Houses appear to be piled on top of each other and wild mosses, lichens and ferns blanket the landscape.

Day 7: Transfer from Caleta Tortel to Coyhaique
Today you'll leave Caleta Tortel for the drive to Coyhaique.

Additional Notes
Experience – No previous kayaking experience is necessary, but you must be able to swim.
Fitness – Participants should be moderately fit, enjoy being in remote locations, willing to be on the water 5-6hrs a day and to participate in hauling kayaks and group gear when necessary.

- Double kayaks with rudder and full equipment (paddle, buoyancy aid, long wetsuit, neoprene boots and gloves, spray jacket and safety gear)
