Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Waterproof (not water resistant) gear is a must, expect windy conditions, but enjoy it all. The only thing I wish I brought was a second, smaller, waterproof bag to keep my stuff in for days we were able to leave things in the refugios/camps. Don't complain - accept what nature brings. The worst experience is when you have people in your group complain. Luckily, this was not the case for us, despite a downpour on some days and some activities cancelled, everyone was in high sprits the entire time!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Nothing aside from wanting to do trips like this more frequently (my last trek was about 7 years ago). There is nothing better thank disconnecting and being in nature. I also prefer these group tours over self-guided/private treks as you get to meet people that you otherwise would not have and make friends/share stories with people around the world.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
The Swoop team was great. Our guides, Tim and Matty from Chile Nativo were excellent!
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
Extremely excited and as prepared as I could feel. There was way less information from the company I did my last trek with
