The magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier stood out as a singularly memorable moment. The Eco Camp stood out as an exceptional all encompassing experience.

Great holiday

I really appreciated that there were moderate, easy and hard options every day and that we could decided after we were there depending on how we were feeling, the weather, etc. It was exceptional to stay in the park. The facilities were excellent, food was exceptional especially given the remote location, and guides were helpful and friendly.

It is a magnificent wild place. You can enjoy the park in so many ways, from challenging hikes to looking for wildlife. I had exceptional weather of low / no wind and no rain so it was beyond beautiful.

I appreciated the variety. As I said in my previous comments the only improvement cold have been in the planning phase of the El Chalten excursions to provide a clear menu of challenging, moderate and easy hikes, as the difficulty level was not so clear and I probably would have chosen something a little less challenging than Laguna de las tres.

I learned that using western union to get pesos in Argentina gives you the good exchange rate. It was easy to use the app and doesn’t have ATM limits. For those of us who were doing hotel based trips, including Eco Camp, and were planning on checking bags, I think roller bags would work fine. Even the buses we used had larger holds for bags. I am not sure that I needed to invest in a bigger backpack, but instead could have used one of my existing suitcases.

There is not much time to do laundry at a lavandería so be prepared to do hand washing of clothes or ask the hotel for this service. I suggest trying to get most of your clothing washed before arriving in Eco Camp as hand washing is not so easy if you are using shared bathroom facilities. I suggest to download offline maps of the trails in the national parks even if you are with a guided group. Unfortunately I got off trail by mistake during one of my hikes when the group was quite spread out and my saving grace was to have the offline map to help me understand where I was and what decision to make. It was a little scary but it all worked out well in the end as the offline map helped me make the right decision. Without it I think I would have been panicked.

It was one of my dreams to go to Patagonia so I was very excited. I thought I was very well prepared.
