What was your most memorable moment?

Having completed the W-Trek after 5 days with the most amazing guide and trek partner whom I both met at the briefing the night before. My Patagonia Challenge Trek for Kids Fighting Cancer was more of a challenge than I anticipated and completing it was emotional and quite fulfilling. My trek was covered by a news channel and I was able to raise almost $60,000 for the Jessica June Children's Cancer Foundation to help children fight cancer.

Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Life changing

On a scale of 0 to 10, how would you rate your trip: The Original Torres del Paine W Trek?

Something Else?

My guide and trekking partner: I was blessed having the best guide and trekking partner as I encountered difficult moments not knowing if I could persevere. I get emotional thinking about the challenges I experienced and the support and encouragement I received from new friends when I most needed it.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

The challenges I did not anticipate were carrying a heavy backpack for 5 days and not having a resting day in between hikes. I felt I was among the oldest trekkers (57 y/o) and although I am in good shape and have accomplished strenuous hikes in the past, the trek was more challenging than anticipated. I would advice others to take more days doing the trek to include resting days.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Although I love hiking I realize I need resting days in between strenuous hikes.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

The team is excellent. I was picked up at the airport on time and had great drivers and guides. Everyone was professional and accountable. The hotel in Santiago was my least favorite. The A/C was not working. All the other hotels were great.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

I was prepared choosing the right clothing to take. The only item I had to buy last minute was a day backpack. I thought for the 5 days I was going to use my 40 L backpack but on the briefing I found out the 1st day I did not need to carry my heavy back pack to the base.
