What was your most memorable moment?
Hiking Torres Del Paine Horns trail, in the rain and wind, strategizing on how to cross rushing streams and ultimately finishing the 20 klm hike. We felt like we had the full Patagonia experience. We ended up having a private guide, Eduardo, due to the inclement weather, and he was fantastic.

Tell us about EcoCamp
We enjoyed lots about EcoCamp. It was great to meet those at breakfast you would hike with, and finish the day having dinner with them. The guides were excellent. For the most part the hikes were great. I found that they needed to have more medium length hikes - 7 to 12 klms. I found myself being the only one on an easy excursion, the hard for that day was more than I wanted, the medium - French Valley - was something we had already scheduled for another day. While the guide was excellent the hike was not, I was disappointed and did not enjoy being the only hiker, spent more time travelling in the vehicle than outdoors. If I had known I would have been the only one I would have pushed and done the harder hike. Food was great and plentiful. The Superior dome at eco camp, nice but have mixed feelings if the private bathroom is worth the cost - could find myself recommending someone go with a standard dome close to the shared washrooms and showers
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Absolutely, challenging hikes (for the most part), beautiful scenery
Tell us about Los Glaciares
We have seen multiple glaciers and it never gets old, the beauty, colours and size are something else. We saw a large piece of the glacier break off, which was an experience onto itself. The walkway around the glacier, and the steps added a good challenge for us. We battled some elements which added to our experience. Our driver was excellent, stopped along the way to point out sites and suggested photo opportunities
Tell us about the Excursions
Overall we enjoyed all the excursions, with the exception of the one noted previously at EcoCamp. The excursions were challenging, the scenery rewarding, and the trekking guides were all excellent. The hikes we chose pushed us physically, which was what we wanted, and at the same time the private guides we had paced us so that we could finish the hikes. I will recommend Patagonia to others who are looking for adventure.
Something Else?
I was a bit concerned about not having local currency in Argentina, but this proved not to be a problem at all as our cards were accepted everywhere.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Plan to spend more than a day or overnight in any one location. The travel and distance between locations can feel like you are on the move a lot, and I think there is a risk you miss out on doing more in certain places like El Chalten
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It has, I totally enjoyed meeting other world travellers learning more about the diversity of travel styles, added a few must sees to our bucket list. What I feel was most impactful to me was learning more about the lifestyles of the trekking guides, the freedom and confidence in which they approach life, their chosen way of working and living, their dedication to and enjoyment of nature and our environment was inspiring. I feel more open and accepting of differences.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I fully appreciate how hard it is to develop an itinerary when there is so much to see and experience with distance between cities and places not being insignificant. We want to experience much, believe we could have experienced more, and maybe would have stayed longer given time was not an issue for us. The team at Swoop was excellent, the website, tutorials, tips, all very helpful in helping us prepare for the unknown.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
