What was your most memorable moment?
So many... hiking to Laguna de los Tres on overcast day only to have it clear right when we got there. Swimming in Laguna Capri - twice! Views at Torres del Paine on our second day - so clear! Seeing Puma from the car, close encounter with guanaco and having a condor fly right over me and capturing a picture of it!
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Great holiday

Something Else?
Guide and service provided by Walk Patagonia were excellent! Chile Nativo was harder to communicate with and the guide was good but not as friendly. It was awkward with the kids - they had the feeling that Javier didn't like us. I think it was just his style but it is a bit awkward having a guide. We really appreciated having all the transportation and lunches arranged! Thank you for an awesome adventure!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Plan way in advance - more than 4 months! and give yourself time to have off days from hikes or flex days. Consider sleep when organizing -- we had a couple of rough nights of getting in late or having trouble finding an open restaurant over holidays (Xmas and NY and their eves) and then having 6 am pick ups. Do you want a guide / need a guide? Get good rainproof boots and break them in, gortex didn't really keep us dry. I would consider bringing a poncho and putting over backpack - kind of like wearing an umbrella.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Being in Chile was awesome - it was gorgeous and given the volume of people going through the park, I think the government is doing a decent job of managing this resource. And given that we briefly escaped an impending dictatorship (or at least the chaos of trying to become a dictator), it was heartening to realize that Chile survived its dictatorship.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I wish we had a packing list - not just a video - with some discussion of rain gear and boots.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
I prepared too late and wished I had more waterproof boots but otherwise ok. This was not about Swoop - it was about the timing of our trip relative to other things going on in my life. I was more overwhelmed than excited about the trip before we left but once there it was awesome and we were very lucky with the weather!
