What was your most memorable moment?
So many memorable moments come to mind, that we are going to describe a few: The view “up close and personal” of the magnificent glaciers on our expedition cruise, highlighted by witnessing a large calving. Kayaking to Perito Morena glacier in El Calafate But perhaps the most stand out memory was cantering on horseback across the pampas in view of The Massive and the beautiful mountains in Torres del Paine.

Tell us about Explora
Our room was beautifully appointed and the view was unbelievable! We loved the architecture of the entire hotel. I had a very relaxing and wonderful massage at the spa. We really can’t say enough high praises for the experience that Explora provided us.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The beauty of this park is beyond compare! The roads are a little tough, but that is part of the mystique and remoteness that we loved.
Tell us about the Horseriding
We are experienced riders, and the riding here was probably the best experience we have ever had while traveling. Our guide, Ginger, arranged our rides so that we rode just with him and a gaucho. They made sure that we saw amazing views, cantered and trotted across the flat distances, and rested at a walk when we needed to. The horses were well trained, well cared for, and had lovely attitudes. Our gauchos (Andres and Gonzalez) were so friendly, and even though they didn’t speak English, we felt like they were our friends. We drank mate tea and ate snacks with them and Ginger after each ride, and we all shared horse stories from our past. The language of horses was understood by all of us!
Tell us about the Zodiac
We were impressed by the execution of the Zodiac excursions. The crew made safety their utmost importance, made sure people were dressed properly for the variable conditions, and executed the complexities of our Zodiac trips flawlessly. The drivers were obviously experienced, proud of their job,and so good at what they do. The excursions were such a unique and wonderful experience, one that is quite unforgettable!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
We would tell them to call Swoop! Your planning and knowledge is necessary for a trip to this part of the world, and Swoop has lived up to the highest expectations.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
We had never traveled to South America, and we came away impressed and more aware of the people and culture of Argentina and Chile.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Even though all of our in-country transfers went perfectly as planned, perhaps there should be a required 24-hour-before confirmation by the driver to the client of the pick up. Just for the comfort of both client and driver that both know the time and place for pick up. One driver in El Calafate did confirm with us via What’s App and it was much appreciated. Maybe a bit more clarity regarding tipping and necessary currency could be provided. We did not bring enough currency, and when we tried to access via ATM , there were issues with availability and quantity. We took $250 USD worth each of Argentinian and Chilean pesos and needed over twice that amount.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
We were well prepared and very excited! Covid ruined our first attempt at this trip, and we have been waiting and wanting to do it since 2020. Swoop’s preparation information was very complete and exact.
