Tell us about EcoCamp
The guides were wonderful. We had 26 people on our French Valley hike with 4 guides. It may have been better to break up into fast, slow groups but the scenery was wonderful and the hike just the right length. We liked the food, how you can choose between 3 items for dinner including vegetarian and vegan options. Our dome suite was spacious and comfortable. We came back one evening in the dark to a cold room but quickly made a fire in the wood burning stove and it warmed up quickly. The staff was so friendly and kind and every one of them worked so hard to make it a great experience for us.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The mountains are absolutely spell binding and beautiful. The Gray Glacier was a great experience. The hikes were hard but worth the effort.
Tell us about the Excursions
Yes, we would recommend it to other travelers who enjoy long hikes and beautiful scenery. The guides are so warm, encouraging and knowledgeable. We loved them all.
Something Else?
We may never get back to Patagonia but will always cherish our memories of this beautiful and wild place. Thank you Swoop and everyone involved from the drivers, guides, and all the working people along the way.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Follow the instructions from your adventure planner. If you need tissues or wash cloths, take some with you as many places do not provide them (never saw a wash cloth). Be flexible, we had a 6 hr wait at Buenos Aires Domestic airport due to storms. There is nowhere to sit, stand where you are out of the way, perhaps take a mask and hand sanitizer. We only needed Argentine pesos once for a local laundry service, otherwise US$ were accepted by the guides and credit cards were accepted by all businesses in both Argentina and Chile. Try to learn some basic Spanish, while a lot of locals speak English, they appreciate the effort and it's fun to try to communicate.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Just that it is so important to have that local knowledge that Swoop provided, everything went so smoothly, likely not possible without Swoop.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Sydney and Alicia were wonderful to work with, we couldn't have asked for better help to get us excited and to work out all the details. You truly are the Patagonian experts!
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
