What was your most memorable moment?

Lots - from Tangoing in BA to walking up to Laguna de los tres in the snow, the views in Patagonia, the wind, rafting on the petrohue river, and walking through the cactii in the Atacama.

Every guide we were with was excellent. From local knowledge, through wildlife and geology - lots of really interesting information.

Tell us about the Excursions

The excursions and the overall holiday was really well put together. The only changes we'd have made with hindsight was to do more rafting or other stuff in the Lakes - having been spoilt with so many great treks in Patagonia the day trek in the Lake district was not so impressive (though Juan the guide was more than excellent!). We also went on the morning trip to the Tatio geysers from the Nou Casa - entailed leaving at 4:30 am and we arrived to geysers in the dark. I've seen a lot of geysers in NZ and Iceland - so they were a bit underwhelming. We'd have preferred to focus on the altiplano and the flamingoes. Interestingly the Explora trip visits the geysers mid morning - our friend said that the geysers were even less active, but there were many fewer people about.

Something Else?

I'd not realised there were so many local agents that we'd be interfacing with. Our first local agent was very efficient sending a local itinerary, the others were more mixed on timings. That said, I never had any significant problems and in most cases we even got the gluten free food for Jill. And learning some basic Spanish was really helpful.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Walking poles are really helpful on the longer treks in Patagonia - the ground can be quite rough knees.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I've found the overall experience to be really well organised by Swoop.
