Tell us about Explora
The room was very comfortable and the view was extraordinary. They had a wide variety of excursions for different zones of the park and different levels of activity. Consuelo did a wonderful job setting up our original activity plan, and their system of daily meetings to review it worked great. The guides were so wonderful on the excursions, with their friendliness, knowledge, and ability. The boardwalks on the property need maintenance in some areas.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Use Swoop and be ready for different weather conditions. It's a small thing, but some of the hotels don't provide facial tissue, so if you have a chronic runny nose like I do, bring some from home!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I already had a deep appreciation for nature, so it just expanded into an experience of part of the world that I hadn't seen before. The friendliness of the people, especially the guides we spent so much time with, is a treasured memory.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Only one small thing; on the day that I did the Laguna de Los Tres hike (starting from outside the town), my wife did a kayaking trip. Two separate drivers were hired, even though the other car went right past the spot where I started. One car could have been use, and just dropped off my guide and me along the way. It might have been a bit cramped with 5 of us in the car for the first part, but that would have been worth not using the extra fuel. (I don't know if this was arranged by Swoop or by Walk Patagonia).
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
Very much. We were nervous about all the connections, but everything worked perfectly. We were a bit unsure of our plan not to bring local currency, but that also worked well, with a credit card and US dollars.
