What was your most memorable moment?
Given the beauty at every turn, it would be hard to pick out one memorable moment, but if I had to, it would be the French Glacier. I've seen a number of glaciers now in my life, but have never seen one on such a steep landscape as was this one. Hearing a number of avalanches was pretty cool too, but unfortunately, never really saw any movement lower down below the cloud deck.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Great holiday

Tell us about Explora
Guides were excellent, hikes were fantastic and enjoyed every step of the way. Room was magnificent.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The pictures are awesome, but no way compare to actually seeing them in person. Was certainly one of the more memorable places we have been with only our Norway trip slightly edging out this trip. But our Norway trip was via car and we crossed the middle of the country through the Fjords region, so maybe not a fair comparison!?
Tell us about the Excursions
All of the guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, and made each hike extremely enjoyable. At least until the end when we realized how sore our feet were! ;-) Devy, who I believe is a contract guide vs. an employee, was especially a great time and provided lots of information during the hike.
Something Else?
The only moderate thing I could come up with is a comment about the Spa area. I realize why it was put in the current location and it was the only real choice I guess, but taking those stairs down to and up from the spa kind of took away from the Spa experience. Maybe providing some sort of electric cart service back and forth might be an idea to help the situation. Again, getting all relaxed while at the spa and then having to walk back up to your room just took a bit away from the spa experience.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Not really as everyone will have their own experiences. I guess the one piece of advice is that you should know your hiking level. For one of the hikes, we had someone along who was definitely pushing their boundaries and by the end of the hike pretty much fell to the ground as they were so tired.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Not really. The beauty certainly was of a high level, but it just made me a bit sad to knowing what humans are doing to our planet. A lot of people talk about wanting to help, but so few actually do.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Keep doing what you are doing! And you must find a way to keep Nicholas around. He seems to have the organizational skills and, more importantly, the energy to make sure everyone is having the time of their lives while there. His energy and positive outlook were contagious!
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
We did a pretty good job of being prepared for our trip given the temperature changes we experienced. And our excitement level was super high. My wife had a lifelong dream of visiting there since she saw a picture of the Torres del Paine when she was 12. So glad we were able to check that off on her list. Note the pic I attached below is of my 60 year old wife doing her birthday cartwheel out there! You made her dream come true with this trip.
