Fantastic. Most memorable part of the trip. LOVED our guide Javiera.

Tell us about the Excursions

Loved both Samara and Javiera. They're very different and were the perfect guides for their portions of the trip.

Amazing experience being able to do the glacier trekking. Would be nice to maybe have more of a physically interesting experience on this day for folks who are aged out of being able to do the glacier trek!

Something Else?

Overall, it was one of the most memorable trips of my life. My dad and I will cherish this experience we had together, forever.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Really understand how to pack well. I think it could have been clearer that we were going to be backpacking for 5 days and what that really entailed. Also: I think clarity around what the food is going to be like and what kinds of snacks people might want to (or not want to) pack is key - calories really matter on this trip. Which we got enough of, but if you're vegetarian, it was a LOT of white carbs...

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Yes of course, how could it not? We live on an incredibly precious, powerful and fragile planet. I wish more people cared about Nature and protecting it. I was so proud of my dad for doing something so challenging and rewarding at 68, with zero complaints and a huge smile on his face the whole time. I, too, surprised myself sometimes in terms of just having such a good attitude when I was feeling physically tired or challenged. I walked away from this experiencing feeling transformed by the power and beauty and awesomeness of Nature, feeling simultaneously humbled by her and connected to my own Power through her.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

PLEASE do a better job screening folks before accepting them to go on the treks and also be more thoughtful about placing groups of people together. Also: a little more protein and variation for veggie options would be awesome. Also: more clarity in the itinerary in terms of what's actually happening, what sleeping arrangements are like, etc. would be very helpful. And - a day by day packing list. What do you essentially need for each day of the trip.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

I think because I did so much research and had family members who had been before, I felt pretty prepared. We got lucky with the weather, so I probably was a bit over-prepared for that.
