Tell us about EcoCamp
Ecocamp was amazing! Food and drinks were excellent, beautiful views at camp and on the W trek, and our guides were informative and organized. The room (standard dome) was great even with cold temperature. The only issue was a day where everyone arrived back at camp at the same time and communal showers were cold.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Exceeded expectations. Highly recommend visiting in early April (fall). Hikes were not as challenging as expected. Fall foliage against the snow capped mountains was so beautiful. Lucked out with hood weather most days. French Valley was definitely the highlight of the W trek
Tell us about the Trekking
Our guides (Alberto & Fio) we’re amazing! For some hikes I did feel like they made me think would be more challenging but I suppose that is better than to make it seem less challenging. Would definitely recommend if traveling to this area
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Make sure you stretch!! And if possible, try to prepare with hiking distances which left me and my partner feeling prepared. There were many in my group who were very fit and had hiked a lot in the past but only prepared with gym workouts/cardio and ended up with unexpected knee pain from the distances Also, for swoop, would be helpful to note in itineraries how the wheather can impact the plan. Ie, the boat ride to Glacier grey may not happen with high winds meaning your trek is double in length. Also we ended up hiking to Frances on the first day which lengthened the first day of the hike - just things that would have been helpful to have in mind as this could impact people’s decision to do this trek
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Not really, just feel very grateful to have been able to do this. And as an introvert still enjoyed the group aspect :)
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

We received differing answers which caused some confusion. Be more upfront about how much tipping is expected, Cascada provided specific tipping guidance of between $250-$400 total amongst staff, guides, etc for the 7 day W trek - important to know this for budgeting. Keep any pesos/cash with you always. A girl in another group had $400 stolen from her tent in Refugio Paine Grande
