Tell us about EcoCamp
We loved the EcoCamp. The rooms were bigger than we expected and the beds very comfortable. The food was outstanding and much more "gourmet" that we ever would have guessed. Lots of choices for all meals and. a lovely bar and outside patio area for enjoying drinks and snacks. Aside from our mix-up with the horseback riding (That needs to be better organized . The guides were great) , excursions were seamless . The guides were informative , friendly and very accommodating .
Tell us about Torres del Paine
It was pure magic and beyond my expectations. There are no words or photographs that adequately describe the vastness and the majesty of this wonderful and wild place . There were many highlights. The wildlife was a treat . We saw guacanos, condor, falcons, gray fox , Chilean flamingos and rheas. Each vista was more magnificent than the one before it. Its was a "Bucket List" trip and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the great outdoors.
Tell us about the Kayaking
The kayaking was amazing and a different view of the landscape from the water. We paddled Grey Lake and saw floating icebergs that broke off the glacier before heading down the Grey River where we enjoyed a very nice lunch along the shore provided by our guides. The guides were gracious , informative and accommodating . It was one of the many highlights of the trip. I would definitely recommend .
Something Else?
The staff at the EcoCamp were hardworking , gracious and helpful . I had a massage there after a day of kayaking and it was heavenly !
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
When entering Chile at immigrations, they stamp your passport and give you a paper"receipt" . We were unaware that this was actually a tourist card and would need to surrender it on departure. Every hotel asked for it and my travel companion lost hers. Fortunately, when we left, they didn't make a big deal about it but they could have fined her . Just a heads up to hang on to it. Pack layers for 4 seasons of weather in one day. It was summer and we needed everything we brought at one time or another on our trip .
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It makes me want to return and explore more of Chile.
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
Mention the importance of the tourist card that needs to be surrendered when leaving Chile.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
