What was your most memorable moment?
We woke up at Peros Camp to snow. The John Gardner Pass was a white out where the wind had covered the path. Other hikers waited for us so our Guide Ian Rodriguez could set the path. It was a very hard day but our group all agreed it was the most memorable part of our day. Other hikers thanked our guide for helping them over the pass.

Tell us about EcoCamp
EcoCamp was incredible and such a wonderful place to spend our last 2 days on our trek. After camping on the 9 day trek it was a nice way to celebrate the end of our trek. Our guide Ian Rodriguez was incredible. We felt lucky to have lead us on our journey. Ian joined us for meals which was a great way for our group to bond. We considered ourselves a family and still do!
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The Torres del Paine exceeded our expectations. As they say the journey is the destination. I felt there were so many incredible moments that we shared as a group that would have been missed as day trips. The memories I will remember are the ones I had with our guide and the other people in our group.
Tell us about the Trekking
I would recommend this trip to everyone. I feel the O circuit is worth the extra days. I thank Sydney from Swoop for recommending to me. Our Guide Ian Rodriguez was exceptional. He seemed to know all the other Guides and Porters and was always willing to help anyone outside our group along the route. We felt lucky to have him as our Guide.
Something Else?
Two years ago Swoop had helped organize an incredible trip for us. Due to unfortunate circumstances we had to cancel our fully booked. We finally managed to get to Patagonia this year. Swoop was so understanding in our situation and let us rebook this experience when it worked for us. We thank you for helping making this trip happen for us. It was worth the wait!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Follow the packing list Swoop provides. My husband could have packed better! Going over the pass our Guide, Ian luckily brought Crampons for us! They were a lifesaver!! I might suggest goggles! We wore our sunglasses to help with the Patagonian winds and snow!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Hiking in Patagonia was an incredible experience. I think being able to fill your water bottles straight from the streams made us realize how special this place is and how important it is to keep it from being over developed for tourism.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Swoop did an incredible job in organizing our trip. Having drivers waiting for us after long flights was such a treat. The Adventure Planner was instrumental in making our visits to cities outside our trek so enjoyable. I booked restaurant reservations ahead based on recommendations from Swoop. I would recommend that. I also used Swoops maps to help navigate around the towns. It was very helpful.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
We were very excited for Patagonia. It was a trip we had been hoping to do for years. We thought we were prepared but anything can happen! The snow we experienced over the pass was definitely unexpected! Make sure your boots are waterproof and comfortable. I had thought the 20 km walks would not take the time it did. The scenery is incredible and so worth the long days.
