Tell us about Explora
The Explora hotel has many positives and very few negatives. The positives include the magical location, scenery and endless hiking opportunities. The staff is wonderful, and the amenities are practically top notch. The only negative would be that the food choices started getting a bit tiring after 4 days, but was still very good. It is also quite expensive, but I would say worth it.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The location itself is unrivaled. The majestic massif looms and seems a bit different with every subtle change in lighting. The constant weather changes added to the mystery of the massive geological formation. The rest of the locale was equally beautiful with numerous glaciers and their ensuing lagoons, lakes and rivers. The colors were indescribable.
Tell us about the Kayaking
Kayak Sin Fronteras is a top notch kayaking guide group and we happened upon them because our original kayaking group became defunct with the pandemic. I cannot say enough about how wonderful they were. Their kayaking expertise, casual demeanor, cooking prowess, ability to build durable shelter in rain and wind were fantastic. Despite the weather at times, which can be quite windy cold and rainy, the kayaking trip was the highlight of our trip. We felt completely same with the guides and the equipment. The drysuits were high quality and comfortable (and kept us warm and dry...) I would recommend sending people straight to them rather than using Chile Nativo is the middleman...
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
The team at Swoop was great. We started with a trip to the Antarctic and needed to pivot to Patagonia with the pandemic. Zoe was extremely reliable and a pleasure to work with. Shout out to the person "on call" on christmas eve day when we had some major changes. She really calmed my nerves and offered some great suggestions. I wasn't thrilled with Chile Nativo and their seeming inflexibility with a few things, but that was minor.
