Take 15% more cash out than you planned. Tipping guides , drivers , others adds up, we wish we would have more cash on hand to really express our appreciation to all those that treated us so well!
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
The preparatory material was fantastic, very helpful.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
The ease to get to South America from the states was much more streamlined than I expected. Definitely increased my desire to travel in other parts of the continent!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Additional travel/ culture guides for the various Patagonian cities would have been great! We used the guide to explore Punta Arenas and it served us well! Expanded those guides with even more information / options would be even better.
Tell us about the Rafting
Guides were knowledgeable and engaging, made us feel safe and made it seem like an adventure. The picturesque scenery and warm water made for a pleasant and great way to spend half a day in the region!
Tell us about the Biking
Guide was nice and knowledgeable of the areas we biked through. However, we had expected a mellow biking excursion with multiple stops at local breweries. What we got was a fairly difficult , and at times uncomfortable biking trek. We stopped only once, at a beach for a small picnic and beer but overall the trek is not advertised accurately. Would not recommend for people who are expecting a leisurely stroll through the country. To be honest the focus you need on the bikes puts into question whether or not people should be drinking on this excursion to begin with .
Tell us about the Kayaking
Opted out of this excursion for a day of rest.
Tell us about the Trekking
Absolutely wonderful, unique experience! One of , if not the highlight, of the trip. Don Rudy’s hospitality was amazing and the trek was beautiful. Our guides Philipe and Issabella were exceptional, we felt like we were good friends by the end of the journey. 10/10 would recommend, just watch out of the coliguachos in December and January, wear light colored clothing!
Tell us about Chilean Lakes
Puerto Varas was a beautiful, clean and interesting place to walk around and grab a bite to eat. A good base camp for sure! Parque Futangue was exceptional! Some of the best food / service we had on the entire trip. Spent 2 rainy / moody days taking full advantage of the spa and facilities, would love to return to experience more of the park. Staff was critical in helping us find a COVID testing location on our day of departure after we found out our self tests had expired. We will forever be grateful!
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Exceeded expectations! Bluest blue we’ve ever seen. Highest wind we have ever felt ! Incredible sensory landscape very worthy of experiencing for multiple days.
Tell us about Patagonia Camp
Natural, rustic, refined and subtle all combined into an incredible setting! Rooms were wonderful with views that looked like paintings . We were treated like royalty, was truly an amazing place to spend the beginnings of our trip. Nico , our guide for all 3 days of excursions was a wealth of knowledge and energy , we greatly appreciated his presence!
Something Else?
Chiloe island and la casita Del Mar were magical. Britt and Sandra have an amazing property which they willingly opened up for our enjoyment. A home-cooked Christmas Eve dinner and a private yoga class we’re just some of our amazing memories. Jaime , our guide was an encyclopedia of information who taught us an extensively of Chiloe and it’s history. We appreciated his thoroughness and love for his home!
