What was your most memorable moment?
Walking into our room at AWA hotel in Puerto Varas and seeing the Osorno volcano against the clear blue sky in al its glory in the floor to ceiling window. Cruze Andino.

Tell us about Argentinian Lakes
El Faro hotel in Villa La Angostura had a beautiful view. Wish we stayed an extra day. Lake Nahuel Huapi is amazingly beautiful. So is the Seven Lakes road. Los Aroyannes park was a highlight.
Tell us about Chilean Lakes
We got lucky with the weather and enjoyed the beautiful volcano Osorno for 2 and a half days before the clouds rolled in. We also saw some nice stars.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The park is beautiful. The French Valley hike was the highlight. It was nice to be able to see the Towers right from the Camp.
Tell us about Santiago
Wasn't too impressed. The historic center is dirty and grafittied. The museum of pre-columbian art only had one room open. The entire second floor was closed for renovations. We liked taking the funicular up the San Cristobal Hill. The new "Shmanhattan" area where we stayed at the Intercontinental hotel was nice though and had nice restaurants. One of the best meals of our trip was at a Peruvian restaurant in the area.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Echoing other travelers - bring lots of US dollars to Argentina. Huge difference between the official (ATM) and unofficial exchange rate. Also if you are renting a car make sure there are no events/road closured in the area when you need to travel. We found out that there would be a bicycle race on the two-lane Seven Lakes road on the day of our departure from San Martin so we made sure to leave by 8 am to avoid road closures.
