What was your most memorable moment?
Walking into our Explora guest room for the first time. Unbelievable.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Life changing
On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?
10 out of 10
Tell us about Explora
An amazing place. Beautiful rooms, spacious common areas, just totally immersed in the scenery. They are careful to keep their environmental footprint light. The daily outings are very well executed. The guides became friends. They know the area’s history, ecology, and geology.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Phenomenal environment. The scale and remoteness are difficult to express and comprehend. Yet the hikes and horseback rides allow you to completely immerse in it, getting close to wildlife and feeling the powerful natural forces at work.
Tell us about the Fjords
Highlight was the glacier hikes from the Zodiac boats. Four days of sailing, daily Zodiac excursions, exploring without seeing any other groups of people or ships gave a real sense of the vastness of this region. We felt honored to be able to have this experience.
Tell us about Santiago
Political disturbances kept us away from the old town. So we didn’t really see Santiago, but rather a very nice but somewhat sterile upscale view of Santiago.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Layer up. It was warmer and sunnier than expected, but that’s ok. We were ready for anything.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I understand Chilean history and culture much better. The explorers of this region are to be admired for their courage and determination. Too bad we (western society) can’t have a “do-over” on how we dehumanized and wiped out the native peoples.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Great job, keep doing it.
