What was your most memorable moment?

The hikes at El Chalten and the hikes/views of Torres Del Paine National park were spectacular, as was the day spent seeing the Morena Glacier. The town of El Chalten is an experience all it's own! We also really enjoyed El Calafate and Puerto Natales. Even the drive from El Calafate to Puerto Natales was very beautiful and memorable. I can not pick one most memorable moment.

Tell us about Patagonia Camp

Excellent service. Incredible views. Very comfortable. Food quite good. Difficult sleeping secondary to noise from the amazing Patagonia winds on the yurts. The excursions were up to expectations and the guides were thoughtful, knowledgeable and enjoyable.

Tell us about Torres del Paine

Exceeded expectations in beauty. Initially we were disappointed there was an hour + drive to the park from the Patagonia Camp. The drive was spectacular however and we enjoyed it enormously. We hiked to the base of the Torres which was beautiful, crowded and as expected. We also hiked Ferrier that was short, very steep (steeper than expected), had few other people on the trail and we were rewarded with spectacular views.

Tell us about El Calafate & El Chalten

El Chalten is an awesome town. Very fun vibe. The hikes were spectacular and it was terrific to be able to hike right out the door. The hikes were more crowded than expected. The hotel was very nice. Noisy town at night. A little hard to sleep but that's part of the town. The dinners were fantastic. Lunches per Walk Patagonia were mediocre. The fruit was very tired. The empanadas were pretty good. The sandwiches were ok. There was an egg one that was quite good but I couldn't eat the other two. Peanut butter and jelly might be a good option? Our guide Emiliano was excellent. We did have 2 of our party that had to leave early for medical reasons. They were unable to access Swoop via the 24 hour number. This was disappointing. El Calafate was also an interesting town. Our guide, Daniella was also excellent. The hike to the glacier was interesting (sorry, I can't think of the name of it, but the one where we took two different boats) but probably my least favorite day of the trip. But it was still good!!

Tell us about Buenos Aires

Fun/beautiful/hot city. We spent a lot of time walking around our neighborhood (Palermo Sojo). It was beautiful and quaint and I highly recommend it. Personally I wish we had organized better. We went to the Cemetery and the Opera House but didn't organize tours at either. My recommendation is to plan around the tour times in the future. Otherwise it's a lot of walking without much information. Our tour guide was very good on the first day and gave us a great tour of the different parts of town and of the memorial site.

Tell us about the trekking

As above: guides were terrific. The hikes were tiring but gratifying and the views were off the charts. I would strongly recommend all of the hikes we did.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

I strongly recommend the length of trip and itinerary that Swoop provided us. The weather changes from hot to cold, dry to wet very quickly. I should have brought more hot weather clothing, especially for Buenos Aires.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I loved Argentina's approach to managing their Parks. People seem to have a very progressive attitude of enjoying but not feeling entitled to use the Parks for their own personal benefit. For example, there is no swimming and no camp fires. Initially I thought this was terrible. I soon realized this is why the clean water is preserved for others to enjoy. The trails are rather heavily used but still, the amount of trash I saw could be counted on one hand. This is quite remarkable. A carry in/carry out policy that works!

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Please make sure your 24 hour access line is truly functional. We had something of a medical emergency. Thankfully the staff at the hotel in El Chalten were amazing and went above and beyond to help our group members obtain the travel accommodations they needed. Otherwise the trip went seamlessly and was very memorable. Thank you!!
