The highlight for me was reaching the top of the John Gardener Pass and overlooking Grey Glacier. Phenomenal. Day to day you find yourself in awe of the surrounding views. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I cannot recommend enough to do the full O-circuit as opposed to the W. The backside of the track has about 1/10th the amount of people, better views and a much more enjoyable experience. Something I noticed that very few people did that I highly recommend advertising is completing the trek in a different order. Start the W first from Grey which you can access by boat, then make your way around the the back side of the O circuit. This way, you get the front side complete where all the people are, and then head back into the other side which is in my opinion far far better.

The place itself is amazing, you can’t deny the views are breathtaking, even when the weather isn’t great!

I am happy I sought advice from Swoop. Initially, it took a lot of time to get things going and I noticed that I was frequently speaking to different people, making the process a bit more difficult. Once I got talking to the one person (Taylor) things couldn’t have gone smoother. The help provided by Taylor was outstanding, who was always willing to answer any questions or give help where needed.

The matching process was perfect. It was clearly explained to me what was happening and made life very easy. I wasn’t aware initially that this is the way Swoop worked, so it did come as a surprise! But thankfully it all went smoothly.

First I’d like to tell you that I had an amazing time and everything went pretty perfectly. These points are very minor! 1. I wasn’t made aware that my guide would have my return bus tickets from Torres Del Paine to Puerto Natales. When leaving for Torres Del Paine, I was made to pay an extra 8000 CLP to buy a return ticket that my guide already had. Perhaps this is just the bus company screwing me over but they wouldn’t let me board without a return ticket. Just food for thought. 2. Next, I had a porter for the back side of the circuit. However, I am unsure if this was necessary? Other than one dinner and one breakfast, my porter did not need to carry anything (I carried the tent and everything else by choice). I know this isn’t Swoops responsibility but I thought it might interest you to know. Perhaps it would be better for Dittmar Adventures to offer a service which is essentially self guided, but just carry two meals for the day there is no Refugio to eat at.
