Christine returned a few days ago from a 7 day Full Circuit trek in Torres del Paine. Here she tells us about some of her experiences…
Highlight of the Trip…
The highlight of my trip was coming over the John Gardner pass and being able to see the vast expanse of glacier grey stretching into the distance. As my first time seeing a glacier, this was magnificent!
Do you have any tips for other people who are planning a trip?
I would say to spend a bit of time on either end in Santiago, and perhaps Punta arenas, to enjoy the local food and culture.
How did Swoop do?
I was very impressed and appreciative of the effort to accommodate my plans, as much as things were confused at first.
How were your guides?
Again, I cannot say enough of my guide. Armando was always incredibly thoughtful of our needs, full of knowledge about the local flora and fauna, as well as in culture and history. I would love to have him as a guide again.
Anything you wish had happened differently?
The one thing I would have liked is a more detailed description from the operator about the actual elevation being covered each day; I found that I was surprised how much harder the trip actually was physically. guide. Armando was always incredibly thoughtful of our needs, full of knowledge about the local flora and fauna, as well as in culture and history. I would love to have him as a guide again.

Hi Christine,
This is Ben from Swoop Patagonia. It sounds like you’ve had a fantastic trip.
In response to your comment about the surprising difficulty of the trekking, I’ve put together detailed guides to the distances, elevations and estimated times of each day’s trekking for the two most popular treks in Torres del Paine.
