Once you’ve flown most of the way around the world to get to Patagonia you might as well savour some of the other places that the region has to offer. In Chile there’s the wine region around Santiago, Valparaiso and of course the Atacama Desert. In Argentina there’s obviously Buenos Aires, but also Mendoza at the foot of Aconcagua and the heart of the Argentine wine region, and of course Salta with its colonial style architecture and dramatic desert/volcanic landscapes.
Many of our clients also head to Iguazu for the incredible waterfalls. We sometimes hear that the accommodation options in Iguazu are good-but-somewhat-limited so when we recently heard about some alternatives we thought it was worth getting them out there onto the Swoop blog.
All of the options below are within an hour or two of the falls themselves, and each of the lodges offers an Iguazu day trip. You’ll also get away from the crowds and see more of the jungle.
First of all a budget option, with its own private nature reserve, some 80km from the Iguazu falls, Yacutinga Lodge.
Posada Puerto Bemberg is about 40km away and is a small boutique lodge at the premium end of the spectrum, reputed for its excellent guides.
Tacuapi Lodge: 250 Km south of Iguazu and a great adventure lodge (rapelling, mountain biking, jungle walks, etc) in a private jungle reserve.
